New Brighton man dead after car plows through fence, rolls onto I-35W

A 34-year-old New Brighton man was killed Sunday morning when the car he was driving plowed through a fence and rolled down an embankment landing upside down on the ramp to I-35W from County Road E2 just south of I-694, according to state patrol.

Officials say the man was driving a 2014 Ford Focus at a high rate of speed eastbound on 6th Street Northwest when it came to an “L” intersection, went though the freeway fence, and rolled down onto the freeway ramp.

A 34-year-old man who was a passenger in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

Authorities say alcohol appears to be involved in the crash.
