Hudson man impaled on fence
HUDSON — A 55-year-old Hudson man was impaled on a metal fence in front of 809 Warren St. in Hudson. The man was transported to Albany Medical Center by helicopter. His condition is still unknown.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Friday night. The man may have tripped while walking his dog, according to Hudson Assistant Fire Chief Nick Pierro.
Greenport Rescue was the first to arrive on the scene. The City of Hudson Fire Department was also called to help cut the metal fence around the man in order to free him.
“They had to keep the fence with him. We cut around the fence to help him get off,” Hudson Fire Chief Anthony DeMarco Jr. said.
The metal fence was to be removed from the man at Albany Medical Center.
Warren Street was closed down from Worth Avenue to Park Place while the incident was being handled. It took approximately an hour from when the call came in to the fire department until the man was transported to Albany Medical Center via helicopter, DeMarco said.
Greenport Rescue, Hudson Police and the City of Hudson Fire Department reported to the scene.
