‘Don’t fence me in’
LEAD — The ongoing saga of the railing that runs along the north side of Lead’s Main Street from Siever Street to Bob’s Silver Star has reached a tipping point as a local business owner was arrested recently for bypassing the railing illegally.
Jordon Sewell, owner and operator of Gold Mine Pizzeria in Lead, was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly being warned a number of times not to jump the fence to reach his delivery vehicle on the other side of the road.
“I saw him climb the fence on Friday,” Police Chief John Wainman said. “I said, ‘That’s a pedestrian safety fence; you’re not allowed to climb it. It’s posted on the fence itself to use the crosswalks.’ I said don’t do it again. (Sgt.) Jeremiah (Fredericksen) caught him that night doing it again, warned him one more time, and when I saw him do it Saturday; I arrested him for trespassing.”
